Welcome to Signs of Life.
This group of pastel paintings wasn’t something I planned as a series, it just kind of came together on its own. I kept being drawn to certain things: apples from different angles, a big stormy sky, a pumpkin that the pumpkin farm called 'ugly' and I found it beautiful, a field of wildflowers, and some animals that made me stop and look a little longer.
One of the pieces shows two opossums in a tree - a parent and child - based on a photo I loved and was given permission to use. There’s also a faraway tree in the background of the field of flowers piece, which feels like it's holding the space more than anything else.
They’re small works, all matted and ready to live somewhere new. To me, each one is a little reminder of life showing up - softly, naturally, and sometimes in surprising ways.
The horizontal pieces are 5" x 7", matted in white with an outside measurement of 8" x 10". The verticals are double-matted in white with an inside opening of 8" x 11" and an outside size of 11" x 14". All are ready to pop into standard-sized frames.
