Paint Nighttime Cityscapes
with Pastels

Picture
There is something about a beautiful city at night - especially the skies! I painted this above night scene after my trip to Florence, Italy. I took my reference photo on the night I arrived and I couldn't believe how the color of the sky turned out - it looked that color in the photo. I'm getting ready to leave for a trip to London and Paris and one of my goals is to get plenty of photos of the cities at night.

Check out the smiling Zoom faces below and join us for a fun, engaging Tuesday morning making pastel paintings.  The camaraderie of this online class offers a unique opportunity to bring your art to a higher level by brainstorming with each other.

February 7, 14, & 21, 2023

Tuesday mornings from 10AM – 12:PM CST.

Suggested supplies to have on hand:
  • Some type of pastel paper about 11" x 14". I absolutely LOVE PastelMat. You can buy it in single sheets or pads.
  • Soft pastels and hard pastels. I use and recommend Unison hand-rolled soft pastels and Prismacolor (hard) pastels.
  • A surface (table, board, or easel) to work on.
  • Either the image I email you to work from or one of your own.
  • A smooth non-textured rag (I use a soft t-shirt cut up to about 4” x 6”) and/or pastel blending sticks, tortillons.
  • A good cup of coffee, tea, or hot cocoa to savor as you create.
