orange dove project - a radical pet-a-dogy
The Orange Dove Project - this collaborative/participatory event already happened in June of 2013, but contact Mary about other upcoming events: [email protected]
What the heck is an orange dove? An orange dove is a rare, mythical animal – it represents equality, peace, and bringing people and animals together through art!
On Saturday, June 8th from 1:00 – 4:00 PM, artist Mary Telfer, along with collaborator artists, Sue Mazur, Kathleen Kenney, Emily Yantis, Teresa Guardi, and Sandra Ferguson orchestrated this exciting, interactive art experience for all ages and abilities at the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA) - www.nisra.org. It was a chance to participate in something rewarding and unusual, have fun, create, and explore your relationship to nature and the animal world. Telfer’s inspiration comes from her passion for working with people of all abilities and her passion for non-human animals. The event was staffed by volunteers from the local art community and featured NISRA artists Coral Brady, and John Hudachek. Participators moved to the sounds of DJ Liz and enjoyed vegan refreshments from Panera bakery.
The mission of Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA) is enriching the lives of people with disabilities through meaningful recreation experiences.
